On September 11, 2019, Scott Williams was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM), a rare brain tumor considered to be one of the deadliest types of cancer.

Through a successful surgery, countless prayers, and multiple means of attacking the disease, Scott has passed the median life expectancy for patients with GBM.

In the days after his brain surgery, Scott read and was enormously impacted by Scott Hamilton’s book, The Great Eight.  Scott Hamilton’s encouragement to stay strong and positive helped Scott Williams to think first of others, and he approached CARES with the idea for Erase the Trace.

"I have been blessed by countless people who have cared for my wife and me emotionally and financially. So while I’m still able, I want to bless others who find themselves struggling with brain cancer, especially GBM.

I grew up not far from the Natchez Trace in Jackson, Mississippi, and have long wanted to cycle the entire 444 miles of the historic parkway. I am confident that I have the stamina and resolve to complete the ride, raising funds for critical cancer research and awareness for Glioblastoma Multiforme."
