Amelia Prentice Keene, Survivor

Amelia Prentice Keene lost her mother and her mother’s two sisters to breast cancer at a young age, only to relive the disease again as a cancer patient herself.

After receiving her diagnosis early in 2020 and surgery in May, Amelia was relieved to learn that the cancer had not spread to her lymph nodes. Following her surgery and radiation, Amelia will stay on medication for the next three to five years and will have regular follow-ups with her oncologist and surgeon.

As a skater and US Figure Skating Judge, Amelia was happy to return to the ice in June 2020!

“The feeling of accomplishment and the sound of the ice and the wind in my face made me feel like I was a survivor. It’s a wonderful feeling to have the support of so many fellow skaters, old skating friends, fellow judges, and club members. I am so touched by their support and love.

The number one thing I will say is please go for your annual checkups. Mine was caught very early because of my diligence.”
