Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation Partners with U.S. Figure Skating on Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer Initiative
U.S. Figure Skating and the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation have announced a promotional partnership in conjunction with the Sk8 to Elimin8 Cancer initiative. The goal of the partnership is to engage U.S. Figure Skating clubs and members and the greater community. The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation is dedicated to funding world class research and quality care to improve cancer survivorship.
Sk8 to Elimin8 is teaming up with rinks across the nation for a unique peer-to-peer fundraising opportunity. Figure skating clubs and members are invited to fundraise for the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation and, in turn, host a Sk8 to Elimin8 open skate celebration at their rink. To date, hundreds of participants around the country have asked friends, family and coworkers to pledge their support to raise money to fight cancer and support patients, their families and their caregivers. Participants are rewarded with prizes based on their level of fundraising.
U.S. Figure Skating will work with figure skating clubs across the country to encourage Sk8 to Elimin8 opportunities as a way to work with the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation. Clubs will be given the resources to set up and run their own fundraising and open skate celebrations with the support of the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation.
"U.S. Figure Skating is pleased to work with the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation," said U.S. Figure Skating Chief Marketing Officer Ramsey Baker. "We know many in our figure skating family have been directly or indirectly affected by cancer and we appreciate the work Scott and his family have done to support cancer patients and survivors over the last 15 years. We hope our 178,000 members and nearly 700 clubs nationwide take advantage of the opportunity to support the fight against cancer alongside Scott Hamilton, one of the sport's greatest champions."
Club and member outreach will begin immediately through direct mail, email marketing and advertising across U.S. Figure Skating print and digital entities and icenetwork.
In addition to the Sk8 to Elimina8 initiative, the Foundation will host several shows to benefit the cause which will feature Hamilton and many of his skating friends. The first show is scheduled for February 20, 2016, in Knoxville, Tennessee.
